In yet another example of the value of the Subscription program, we have released the AutoCAD Civil 3D 2009 Subscription Bonus Pack 2 – PDF Enhancements (that certainly is a mouthful – I will refer to this as BP2 during the rest of this post.) Appropriately named, BP2 will add enhancements to PDF functionality within Civil 3D and it can be found in your Subscription Center.
Please note: This Bonus Pack is available to Subscription customers only, and requires that you have Update 2.1 installed for Civil 3D 2009.
There are two files available for download – AutoCAD Civil 2009 Bonus Pack 2 (English) and AutoCAD Civil 3D 2009 Bonus Pack 2 (English.) Note the word “3D” in the second one – these files are available for two different programs, AutoCAD Civil 2009 and AutoCAD Civil 3D 2009. Please make sure you download the appropriate file for your installation.
Now, on to the meat of the post – what do you get with BP2? What are “PDF Enhancements?” This information is spelled out in great detail in the Readme PDF that is on the subscription site (just above the download link) and I strongly encourage you to read it – after all, what’s the readme for if you don’t read it? Just to touch on the functionality, there is a great description on the download page:
AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2009 Subscription Bonus Pack 2 delivers exciting new PDF enhancements:
PDF Output
Key improvements have been made for publishing PDF files. File sizes have been reduced, making it easier to share designs. TrueType font support has been added, giving you control over precisely how fonts are displayed.PDF Underlays
Now you can import PDF files, attaching them as PDF underlays. Once you attach a PDF underlay, use a variety of tools to snap to lines and objects; control the display of layers; and move, scale, rotate, and clip the PDF underlay.
Enjoy!
