If you are one of the many people who are using a default web browser of anything other than Internet Explorer, you may have seen this message when running a report from the toolbox:
Error displaying report in registered browser.
Civil 3D needs to have Internet Explorer as the default browser, and for some reason this is a little more difficult / hidden in Vista. Simply choosing to “set as default” won’t work. There is another step you need to take.
First go to the Start Menu > Default Programs > Set Default Programs
Here set Internet Explorer as default.
Second go to the Start Menu > Default Programs > Set Program Access
Expand out the Custom section and click on Internet Explorer to be your default web browser.
And that’s it. Easy as pie. Now if you really want to have your .htm and .html files open with Firefox or Chrome, you can go into “Associate a file…” also found in the Default Programs options. Here you can associate those file extensions with your true browser of choice.
Enjoy the weekend!
