Most of you out there are already familiar with shrink-wrapping option that could be applied to corridor surface. In Corridor Properties, Boundary tab, there are Corridor extents as outer boundary, along with Add Interactively and Add from Polyline. All these commands work in a similar way with goal of creating surface boundary. Whoever tried it realized soon that “Corridor extents as outer boundary” is not always available. “Corridor extents as outer boundary” is only available if the corridor has multiple baselines such as corridor at intersection. “Add Interactively” is great only if you have time and do not mind extensively zooming in and out to pick your boundaries. Now here comes another tool that will make your life lot easier. In Civil 3D 2010 there is command which will create a closed polyline as the outer boundary-automatically.
Then from Corridor Properties, Boundaries tab, right-click on Corridor name and choose Add From Polygon, select Boundary created on the screen and you should get something like:
