The QAT or "Qwat" - you know what that is, right? Time for User Interface 101; its the Quick Access Toolbar, which we've actually had since 2009. You've seen it in other applications I'll bet - it allows you to have a group of often-used commands at your disposal very quickly. Most people probably just leave it as is, with defaults of file commands and printing, undo/redo. But hey, a lot more is possible here!
What else can you do with it? Well, you can:
- Turn on/off commands that are already "loaded" on it
- Add other commands (including custom ones) to it
- Toggle the MENUBAR variable on and off
- Toggle the QAT location to either above or below the Ribbon
Removing icons from the QAT is really simple, just right-click on them. You can also add separators to group icons by task, etc.
But hey, I just discovered a cool new addition to the 2010 version. Right-click on any button that exists in the Ribbon (on a panel or extended panel - for others you have to use the "More Commands..." option noted above to access them) and you can simply add it to the QAT at lightspeed, presto! Pretty nice huh? So start qwatting...
