If you are one of those “lucky ones” to have created your deployment directly from DVDs you may notice that tool palettes are displaying fine but some Civil sub-assemblies and assemblies are missing from the palettes. This appears to be the issue only with deployments created from DVDs but not if Civil 3D 2010 is installed as a stand-alone.
As a good practice for any future installation and one way to resolve this issue, we recommend that all DVDs be copied in a new directory on your hard drive. This will not only resolve the issue with missing tool palettes but will also create a deployment quicker. Once all content of DVDs is on the hard drive, locate setup.exe and run installation from there.
For existing deployments that failed to copy tool palettes there is also a way to repair it. Here are the steps:
- Copy the entire i.e. E:\x86\C3D\CONTENT directory from DVD 2 into….AdminImage\x86\C3D\ directory. This should overwrite all Content directory
- Modify the deployment and configure it again to update your deployment
- Repair your installation of Civil 3D 2010, using Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel by selecting Reinstall option.
- Start Civil 3D 2010 and confirm that tool palettes have subassemblies.
