Now that Civil 3D 2010 is supported on Windows 7, I want to take another look at a blog post I wrote about a year ago, regarding ClearType. For a description description of the problem, take a couple minutes to check out that post, as it relates to Vista. Windows 7 has this setting located in a new area, so it is worth noting.
First, go to Control Panel, and select Display. On the left side, you will see an option for “Adjust ClearType text". Click on this, which will bring up a new dialog box.
Uncheck this box to turn it off, and then hit Next. For some reason, Windows 7 will bring you through a few more dialog boxes asking you to pick which font looks better. It’s almost like taking an eye exam. They pretty much all look the same, and to be honest, it doesn’t even matter, as you have turned this feature off. Once you finish this, you are back in business and the text in your Text Editor will crystal clear.
