I trust most of you have already figured this one out... but just in case. We get this one more often than others and we decided to share it with you. I was sure we blogged or wrote a Technical Solution about it before but was unable to find it anywhere. It’s got to be one of the wishful thinking sessions I have from time to time.
Users come with questions asking why all points imported from metric template (of Imperial) and with metric settings still display points in feet (or Metric). In Edit Drawing Settings dialog you confirmed that the drawing units are set to meters, ambient tab shows all meter, kilometer/hr, square meter, etc. but your point label still shows up in feet (meters).
The mystery is not really a mystery, it’s rather that the style used for displaying point label is set to be imperial (or metric) and as such it converts metric elevation in feet.
If you check the style settings most likely you will see that the style is set to show in feet. To do so
1. Right-click on point label and choose Properties and select the style to edit
2. In Label Style Composer go to layout tab and select Point Elevation for Component name
3. Click on Contents to go into Text Component Editor. Here you may see the cause of your trouble. You may see that Unit is set to Foot (or metric if this is the issue you have)
4. To resolve all you need to do is to change this value to be in meters (or feet).
If this is not the cause of your issue you may like to see another similar post we published while ago for a similar issue. Enjoy the day!
