Some of the coolest new features of Civil 3D 2011 can be found on the Corridor Conceptual Ribbon tabs. Previously when editing corridors, you would pretty much live in the Corridor Properties dialog box. In 2011 it has been made much more convenient and easy to edit and modify corridors, regions, and sections.
The options to edit are now available in the Corridor Conceptual Ribbon after selecting a corridor. Split out into three new panels you will find Modify Corridor, Modify Region, and Modify Corridor Sections. In the Modify Corridor Panel you will see some familiar faces such as the good old Corridor Properties and Rebuild Corridor options. New to the game will be
Corridor Surfaces and Add Baseline. You will also find on the dropdown that you can now edit code set styles as well. Clicking the Corridor Surfaces button will launch a very familiar dialog, however this is simply tailored for the corridor surfaces so it will only include tabs for Surfaces and Boundaries.
Next comes the Modify Region panel, this is where a lot of the new and exciting (helpful) features reside. As you can see in the image to the right the commands can be used to edit any number of parameters on region at a time. Some of these are new and are going to prove to be huge time savers such as Match Parameters (much like the core AutoCAD command Match Properties, this works for corridor regions) and Copy Region, others you would have found in the old Corridor properties dialog. However having all these options available by simply clicking the corridor saves you clicks, and no scrolling through the parameters tab to locate the region you would like to edit.
Last but not least is the Modify Corridor Sections panel, here you will find the Section Editor, and two new buttons Add a Section and Delete a Section. Previously to add a section you would have to drill down into the specific region and add each section from there. This could get rather time consuming depending on how many regions you had in your corridor. These two commands can add (or remove) sections across the whole corridor regardless of what region you are adding the section to.
Just a quick sneak peek of things to come!
