the time for product extensions are approaching and you may see another Subscription Advantage pack coming to light, so this may be on the same tab. Many time happens that the end users don’t know what are the Civil 3D Updates (or how we used to call them Service Packs) installed on their machines. Typically this happens if somebody such as CAD Manager or your “go to guy” was the one installing the Updates or Extensions. Not saying that CAD Managers do a bad job of informing what version or updates are being installed, but rather user’s inability to remember what was installed, for what product and when. There are other ways to get an answer to the question” How Do I Know What Version is Installed? But this one does not involve going into product to check. It’s enough to go to registry and see it there.
Go to Registry by Start>REGEDIT and browse to following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R18.0\ACAD-8000:409\Service Packs
If you have 64-bit version your path may be slightly different:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R18.0\ACAD-8000:409\Service Packs
This will tell you what Versions you have. Keep in mind that original installation is version 1, the one with Update 1 is version 2, etc.
As always, when dealing with registry and if you are not sure what you’re doing, just look but don’t touch!
