In the 2012 release the Cross Section View Editor (CSV) has made some great improvements over previous releases. It can be configured to display different views as well as a visual indicator in all views helping you get a better “picture” of which stations you would like to edit.
Just like in previous version the CSV can be launched from the corridor contextual ribbon or from the right click menu when selecting a corridor. However you will see a few more options available to customize this experience.
Found under the VIEW TOOL panel you will find the EDIT THE VIEWPORT CONFIGURATION OPTIONS button, and just like its namesake it does exactly what you would think it does. Clicking this will bring up the options available, allowing you to pick the layout, which viewports you would like to display what, and the splits available. Please note that you may note have duplicate selections in the viewports (Viewport 1: Section, Viewport 2: Section) and also that one of the viewports MUST be set to Section.
Moving on to the visual indicator called the Station Tracker, this will display a tracker in both plan and profile views to allow you to better get a feel for where you are on your corridor. This Station Tracker is also customizable to display as desired, and also which viewports you would like to see it in. Simply clicking the arrow buttons will move the Station Tracker along with updating your section viewport giving a much more useful experience when having to manually edit your sections.
