This is a quick post that can easily go into a category of “A-ha”. An image is worth thousand words-they say. This one is not worth that many but it will surely show what the issue is:
If you take a look at the Profile View you quickly noticed that something is not right. The profile view has a gap in the middle of it. To see how to fix this gap, click on continue.
Looking more closely you may notice that vertical grids are showing OK, but horizontal ones are not. Profile certainly goes all the way through - which is good. So what is in charge of displaying horizontal grid? A Style. And what exactly within that style? A linetype in display tab. You see where I am going with this, right? Looking and finding Grid Horizontal Minor and major; it does not tell much. It is set ByLayer.
But what is the layer linetype? I bet something other than Continuous. Now let’s go ahead and set the linetype to continuous and see magic happen before your eyes.
Your Profile View will look proper this time.
The reason I wanted to share this tip is basically because you may encounter this issue with other objects not showing properly and because you should know what ByLayer means. Looking at style without checking it's linetypes will not help much. I hope you will find some value in this post.
