Publishing From Map 3D to Infrastructure Map Server – Easy as 1-2-3

Getting started with your first Map Server site can seem a little intimidating, but thanks to the Publish to Map Server tool, you can be up and running in no time!  Once you have both softwares installed:

1. Open a drawing in Map 3D that you want to publish – it can have regular AutoCAD features or FDO connections. 
2. Go to the Publish to Map Server option under Publish (or MAPPUBLISHTOMAPGUIDE) and enter your server address and login credentials
3. Publish! (if you have the “Show Map in Web Browser” box checked, you’ll get your map open in your default browser right away.  Tweak it a bit in Studio if necessary, or just send that URL around to be used for access to the site.

Full disclosure: in my example above, the red points are ACAD features, so I had to open the Map in Studio and move the Map Base layer be above the FDO layer containing Massachusetts towns.  If you don’t mix FDO and ACAD, no draw order edits will be needed.
