Subscription Productivity Tools for AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2013

We are pleased to announce that the Productivity Tools for AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2013 have gone live on Subscription Center. This is a collection of tools and content supporting regional and/or industry specific workflows that can be downloaded and installed by Civil 3D subscription customers to enhance the value of the Civil 3D product. The following tools were launched:

• Cartogramma Utility
• Corridor Solids Extraction
• Extension for Civil View
• Import/Export Extension for GENIO
• 12D Data Extension
• Rural and Urban Road Subassemblies
• PISTE Translator (FR)
• Clip/ISTRAM Translator (ES).

Postcards from Las Vegas–Day One

It’s official – Autodesk University 2011 is in full swing, and the first day isn’t even close to being over (It’s currently 4:14PM and we’re looking at around 8 more hours of scheduled commitments.)

Today I taught Improving Performance with AutoCAD Civil 3D and then co-presented Why You Shouldn’t Close You Map Task Pane All the Time in Civil 3D with Katie Jaques. The one thing people took away from my first class is that the skinny Map kids on the bus need to be beat up! I had a blast doing what I love doing most – talking to my peers about a subject that I’m passionate about.

Picture this room packed to standing room only and you’ll see just how many people are interested in improving performance with AutoCAD Civil 3D!

Map 3D 2012 Service Pack 1

SP1 for Map 3D 2012 and Infrastructure Administrator has been released.  Please go to http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=18021295&linkID=9240858 for the downloads for both.

After installing the Map 3D Service Pack, you'll also want the AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT 2012 SP1 Ribbon Hotfix.

Volumes Dashboard for Civil 3D 2012 Now Available

For all our Subscription Customers there is a present in Subscription Center waitng for you to download it! Please note that the Volumes Dashboard for Civil 3D 2012 is now available for download. This new tool provides a very easy to use workflow for calculating, reporting and visualizing earthwork volumes and is available for all C3D and IDS-P/U subscribers. It’s an English language tool but can run on any language C3D 2012). Using the Volumes Dashboard you can:

• Calculate volumes in multiple volume surfaces and in bounded areas within the volume surfaces.
• Save volume information between drawing sessions. The entries you make in the Volumes Dashboard are persistent between drawing sessions.
• Select multiple surfaces and bounded areas to show in the total volumes graph.
• Insert a summary of the volumes into the drawing.
• Generate a volumes report.

Google Earth Updated Extension for AutoCAD 2012 Available Now

It's no secret that Google Earth plug-in for AutoCAD has been one of the top downloads on Autodesk lab. This is something Civil users have enjoyed for a few years now, but unfortunately this update was not tested on Civil 3D 2012, so it may not be possible to install it. Today we got a word that Googe Earth Update is now available for other members of AutoCAD family.  On top of that we can now import Google Earth image in COLOR (it used to be possible only in back and white), 3D model can now be published to Google Earth, will automatically populate geographic information during publish, image can be draped onto a surface, and other cool things ... and all that while still in AutoCAD. Isaac Rodriguez is a Sr. Software Engineer in the AutoCAD® Civil 3D® team. He has been with Autodesk since 2001 working in different products and technologies, and currently, he is the Software Development Lead of the AutoCAD® Civil 3D® API. He has several years of software development experience ranging a broad set of technologies and programming languages, and for the past few years, his work has been related to .NET.

When he is not writing code for Autodesk or taking care of this blog, you can find him playing blues with his band, shutting pictures, or enjoying a good book. As an former members of the SEI (Sociedad Española de Ilusionismo), he has a special interest about magic and loves to read about the subject.
