Sometimes users recieve point files with extended properties that you would like to import into survey database and insert them into your drawing. Typically, they want to distinguish points by date collected, those points representing trees or topo, etc. So how to import these?
Well, the very first thing to check is to make sure the XML schema is supported.
The trick is that, before importing your XML file you enable the “Create new definitions automatically” option so that you don’t need to create the extended properties manually in advance. This may be desired option if you want to have program automatically use the Extended Properties if those do not exist in the Survey Database or you are not aware of them in the LandXML file.
Here is how:
1. In the Survey tab, right-click on Survey Database name and choose Edit Survey Database Settings
2. Scroll-down to Extended Properties section
3. Set "Create new definitions automatically" to "Yes"
4. Click OK
5. Re-import your LandXML file
Note from help:
Importing the LandXML Property definitions before you create new user-defined properties can save time because the LandXML property definitions may match the requirements for the additional properties. For more information, see Extended Property Definition Files.
